T&T's Maritime Industry - Exploring Opportunities
EUROCHAMTT was pleased to host this seminar of 5th July 2017, complementing and strengthening other recent actions of the EU, University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT) and the Government towards the development of the maritime industry. The Crews Inn Hotel & Yachting Centre was the ideal location to host several representatives of the maritime industry.
The commercial maritime industry in Trinidad and Tobago offers further scope for development given the market needs created largely by the oil and gas sector in this country and in neighbouring countries such as Guyana, French Guyana, Suriname as well as Venezuela and Colombia. The region could be served and Trinidad and Tobago could benefit from companies having their home base here. This country’s location also makes it attractive for transshipment operations. However, Trinidad and Tobago must ensure it has the critical infrastructure in place: the ports, dry docking as well as an enabling environment to keep attracting more business. See Report for more conclusions.
Europe has much experience it can share.
